My cousin's wife wrote that her 4 year old son Drew had a pretzel and was pretending to smoke. She claims that he said " like at Jim's house" Jim is my brother. I personally don't believe he said that I think she say him pretending to smoke and said something like "Are you smoking like at Jim's house" and the Drew said yes. She also said that when she got upset and told him not too smoke he thought it was funny. They moved to North Carolina in December and said that he sees so many people smoking there and is worried it will make Drew want to smoke. I think she was overreacting. So I wrote this.
North Carolina is one of the top producers of Tobacco so it's not surprising that there are a lot of smokers there.
As far as Drew pretending to smoke, I wouldn't worry too much about it, if it were me I would simply ignore it because now he thinks it's funny, so instead redirect him to play something else, and maybe make up a fun game to play with the pretzels so that when he picks them up he instantly goes to the game instead of pretending to smoke.
I grew up with a father who smoked in the house with us, we even had candy cigarettes and Cathy and I never thought of smoking and Jim didn't smoke until he was 19 and in the navy. Jeremy and Jason(her husband) had parents who didn't smoke and both ended up picking up the habit. And Sam used to watch Jim, Wende and Jason smoke outside through the window and has never dreamed of smoking. So I think pretending to smoke doesn't have to lead to smoking I think you have to drill into their head that it is dangerous to smoke and what can happen and some will listen others won't. I think the most important thing we can do is just pray the next generation is smart enough to drop that horrible habit.
The next day she defriended me, my mother, and my sister from Facebook, is ignoring me and won't respond even when I talked to her though Sam's facebook page. Tell me the truth does it sound bad? Do you think she is mad because I mentioned that her husband used to smoke and maybe she doesn't want all her Christian friends to find out? Other then that I can't figure out what she could be mad about.
